Electrical Lead

Overview:

Técnico Corporation is looking to obtain experienced candidates within our Electrical Department.

We are pleased to accept resumes for Electrical Lead. This position will be responsible for overseeing the supervision and coordination of activities of assigned trade personnel, and ensuring compliance with schedules/budgets for our workforce to accomplish the technical requirements of each job.

This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work within our headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and management of the Electrical Department including the coordination and supervision of work for Electrical Department employees
  • Monitor and support all Electrical Department projects maintaining high quality, on time delivery, safety and staying within budget
  • Perform planning, assigning and directing of Electrical Department work
  • Ensure required trade personnel, material, and equipment is available to support all ongoing and upcoming projects
  • Allocate supervision and trade personnel to each job, and communicate all appropriate procedures/requirements to the trade supervisor to complete the job effectively
  • Review and application of specifications, drawings, and job orders, and effectively interpret them to assigned employees while ensuring implementation on the worksite
  • Supervise Electrical Department employees in work tasks to verify and ensure conformance to specifications, drawings, procedures, and quality, schedule and budget
  • Ensure compliance with estimated budgets by studying production schedules, and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments
  • Coordinate and communicate with Project Management or Superintendent to ensure schedule requirements, can be met and condition reports concerning technical requirements are properly submitted and priced
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and processes
  • Responsible for abiding by company policies, safety rules and shipyard practices; and interpreting and enforcing compliance of these policies and safety regulations to assigned employees
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of all Structural Department employees
  • Ensure new Electrical Department employee hires are properly trained and perform at hired-in levels
  • Coordinate with Human Resources (HR), Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Quality Assurance (QA), Security, and the Production Manager to ensure all assigned employee’s training, certifications, and access are current
  • Analyze and resolve work problems with confidence, and assist assigned employees in solving work problems
  • Responsible for recommending and/or initiating personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and other disciplinary measures
  • Monitor and ensure time charges are accurate and submitted in a timely manner
  • Assesses temporary skilled labor personnel to ensure performance is comparable to the skill level being paid
  • Exhibit leadership qualities in an energetic and “team” mannered approach
  • Proficiently demonstrate knowledge in removal, install, inspect, replace, troubleshoot; and test equipment, cables, and electrical systems in accordance with the technical, design, quality, and safety requirements of the work package and applicable customer and/or regulatory body required procedures including but not limited to:
    • NAVSEA Standard Items
    • General Specifications/Overhaul of Surface Ships (GSO) S9AO-AB-GOS-010
    • Chapter 300-R2
    • Electrical Plant installation standard methods for Surface Ships and Submarines (Cable) DOD-STD-2003
    • OSHA Regulations (29 CFR)
    • IEEE STD. 45
    • 1310G Bonding & Grounding
    • U.S. Coast Guard Standard Specifications
    • MSC GTR’s

Experience Requirements:

  • 10 years of waterfront shipboard experience
  • 5 years of electrical supervisory experience in a shipyard
  • Experience with naval ship repair and modernization preferred

Other Qualification Requirements:

  • Documented U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass and hold various background checks and security clearances
  • Must be able to obtain a Government facility security pass
  • Must be able to pass Drug Screening and Work Ability Screening
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment - hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes and, when necessary, respirator
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance
  • Experienced in QA/QC programs and procedures
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and military and commercial specifications
  • Working knowledge of all tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of design principles, AMSE/AWS codes and safety standards
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with managers, field personnel, customers and employees
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to learn and understand company accounting software and related enterprise systems
  • Occasional additional hours and weekend work
